Author James F. Lee’s mother, widowed during the Pearl Harbor attack, was an evacuee along with his half-sister. Lee, a freelance writer who focuses on travel and history, has published in The Washington Post, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Dallas Morning News, British Heritage Magazine, and Tidewater Traveler among others. Lee also taught journalism for many years at Bucknell University and now lives in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Safe Passage is his second book.
